Rome diamond league 2020

Yet another world class field, with potential world records at risk. The Rome diamond league looks set to be just as exciting as the previous fixtures we’ve seen this year.

The Timetable

With only two distance events, the Rome diamond league looks focussed on the sprints and the field events. However, the two distance events within this competition look like they’ll give some fireworks.

Key events

The Women’s 800m – features 7 sub 2 minute runners, 7! This includes inform Laura Muir who seems unstoppable. As well as the promising talent of Jemma Reekie who is one of our picks for an olympic medal next year.

The Men’s 3000m – Jakob and Jacob seem like they’ll provide each other with some great competition. Jakob’s outdoor personal best is 8:00.01, which he’ll have to shatter in order to come away with the victory. Jacob Kiplimo recently out kicked Berega to run 12:48.63 in the 5000m. Dare we say he might be the favourite in this race? Stewart Mcsweyn & Matthew Ramsden also feature within this race. The two Australians look set to challenge their national record, which will round up a season of Australian records being beaten in both the Men and Women’s distance events.

The Men’s 400m hurdles – Yet another 400m hurdles, yet another Karsten Warholm, yet another World record attempt.

The Men’s pole vault – Yet another Pole vault, yet another Mondo Duplantis, yet another World record attempt.

The Women’s high jump – With Mahuchikh & Levchenko in the line up. The Women’s high jump seems  like another great contest. A jump higher than 2m will more than likely have to be enough to win. Can we see something higher?
