After arguably one of the greatest diamond leagues in history in Monaco. It seems near impossible for the Stockholm diamond league to follow in its footsteps. Obviously we saw Joshua Cheptegei break the world record in the 5000m, we also saw Jakob Ingebrigtsen PB and break Mo Farah’s European record. Cheryiout also ran a PB to win the 1500m. Warholm ran his fastest season opener ever and Mondo Duplantis jumped 6.00m. There was also many other amazing results which we will speak about in our Monaco diamond league podcast.

Men’s 800m 16:27. Men’s discuss 16:37. Women’s long jump 16:42. Women’s 400m 16:44. Men’s 200m 17:10. Women’s 1500m 16:55. Women’s 800m 17:20. Men’s 400m 17:37. Men’s 1500m 17:51.

There are more events here than in Monaco, which also features more field events, since the infield will be in use, unlike in the last diamond league.

Exciting events

The Stockholm diamond league appears to be filled with world class athletes, some who have already shown great performances this year.

For us, the events to be most excited for are;

Men’s pole vault, Women’s high jump, Men’s 400m hurdles, Men’s 800m, Women’s 1500m, Women’s 800m and the mens 1500m.

The men’s pole vault features Mondo Duplantis and we all know what he’s capable of. A potential World record is always on the cards. The women’s high jump features Levchenko and Mahuchikh, both very exciting young prospects. Truthfully, I think Warholm can break the World record in the 400m hurdles if he hurdles well and 11 steps the full way.

The men’s 800m includes Donavan Brazier, but also includes the 1:44 runner, 18 year old Max Burgin. It’ll be great to see how he performs on the big stage. The women’s 1500m looks like it’ll be a fast one with Kipyegon and Muir lining up on the start line. Also, fresh off the 5000m Hellen Obiri will feature. The women’s 800m includes Jemma Reekie who we are backing to get gold next year in Tokyo. It’ll be great to see what she’s capable of in a fast race.

Finally, the men’s 1500m. Monaco’s race left us with a lot of talking points. Can Cheruiyot get close to the World record if he has more efficient pacing and decides to screw spikes in? Can Jakob Ingebrigtsen go even faster after leading the chasing group with no help? Fan favourite Craig Engels will be looking to improve upon his season opener, can he finish fast and run a huge Personal best? The whole 1500m is stacked and we’re expecting even quicker than Monaco (which is very very scary).

Predictions

Mondo Duplantis jumps over 6m, the high jump is won in over 2.02m, Warholm breaks the World record, Brazier runs 1:42, Muir wins in 3:56, Reekie wins in 1:58 and Jakob Ingebrigtsen out kicks Cheruiyot to run 3:27, with 4 runners sub 3:30 (Jakob, Cheruiyot, Filip and Kejelcha)

Very optimistic predictions, but after the strange season, we think everyone is eager to run fast times in every race, rather than maybe going for positions, which we tend to see in full seasons.

About us

We have the goal to accelerate the growth of the sport, as well as increase the exposure of athletes, who we know do not get enough attention.

Trackstaa is ran by two athletes from the UK, Alfie Manthorpe & Rory Leonard. We are both predominantly 5000m runners, but are invested in any distance/event within the sport.

Trackstaa was originally founded in August 2019, but the actual direction of our “business” was fully decided around April 2020. We are currently starting to produce more original content, as well as sharing other peoples content, on our pages Trackstaa & Trackstaa News. On the original content side of things, we currently produce 2-3 podcasts a week with elite athletes and aim to release at least 1 youtube video a week.

Work with us

We are always looking for great content to share. If you feel like you could help with any content production (articles, photo edits, youtube videos), please send us a DM on instagram so we can discuss producing some great content together.

 We are also currently planning something very exciting with some great content producers. If you have any ideas for future projects, again, feel free to DM us on Instagram to discuss it. We are always looking for new ideas and ways to grow the sport.
