New Balance have taken 2021 by storm and competing with Asics and Adidas I would say they have potentially had the most successful 2021 in terms of new shoe releases and innovation. The Fuelcell Rebel v2 has pretty much become everyone’s favourite none plated shoe and the Fresh Foam mileage shoes 1080v11 and More v3 are firmly at the top of people’s lists for high cushion shoes. So what’s next for New balance? They have also teased a new track spike which we aren’t covering here because there’s not much information out there at the minute.
And for anyone who hasn’t tried New Balance FuelCell foam yet, it’s the softest super foam on the market.

New Balance SC elite v3
To avoid confusion, the New balance SC Elite v3 is a third version of the New balance RC Elite v2. But they are changing Its name from “racing competition” to “super competition” hence the SC. The Super Comp shoes utilise New Balances best foam and carbon plate.
This uses New Balance’s Energy Arc technology and includes extreme weight savings. The Upper has a built in tongue to ensure the foot stays secure with a one piece Knit as the full upper.
Expected for release in October 2022.
New Balance SC Trainer
The training partner of the previous shoe mentioned. And as you can probably guess, this shoe isn’t race legal. It also includes all the same features of the Fuelcell SC Elite v3, but has a stack height of 47mm. The upper has more comfort and softness, but is still lightweight.
According to New Balance this isn’t comparable to any of their previous shoes and the industry as a whole.
Out late 2022.
New Balance SC pacer
The age of the super flat is here. Adidas released the Adidas Takumi sen 8, Nike are bringing out the Streakfly (at some point), and now New balance have the Fuelcell SC pacer. I don’t know what to make of it, because it doesn’t look that fast. But it’s about what’s in the shoe, not what it looks like.
Obviously a lower stack height, lightweight with a carbon plate and fuelcell foam. My one concern is how a carbon plate will differ with less foam. This shoe also features the energy arc design that’s utilised In the other SC models, which improves responsiveness.
It has a race specific upper, which is as light as possible, with breathability holes. The upper somewhat reminds me of the Nike Pegasus turbo…
New Balance More v4
The look of this shoe amazes me… New Balance have completely renovated every aspect of the Fresh Foam More v3, with a new midsole geometry, a larger amount of Fresh foam X, and an outsole to enhance the ride and cushioning for runners. Overall, more stack height and more width.
Out late 2022.
New Balance Rebel v3
Coming off the huge success of the New balance rebel v2. For the 3rd edition New balance added an extra 1.5mm of fuelcell in the midsole and extra width to enhance ride and stability.
By the looks of it New Balance have also added more rubber on the outsole which would likely improve durability. The only issue people have with the previous model of the shoe.
